What was Pokémon based on?
The franchise was created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1996, and is centered on fictional creatures called “Pokémon”. In Pokémon, humans, known as Pokémon Trainers, catch and train Pokémon to battle other Pokémon for sport.

What is the point of Pokémon?
Pokémon involves the catching and training of fictional creatures called “Pokémon” and using them to battle other Trainers. Each successive generation of games builds upon this concept by introducing new Pokémon, items, and gameplay concepts.
Why was Pokémon invented?
It started simply enough as a hobby of Satoshi Tajiri, who as a child had a fondness for catching insects and tadpoles near his home in suburban Tokyo. Over time, Tajiri decided to put his idea of catching creatures into practice, to give children the same thrills he had as a child.
Does rock resist ice?
Offensively, Rock is great, being super-effective against four types: Bug, Flying, Fire, and Ice. Luckily, it actually has an equal number of resistances and weaknesses, with four again. Rock-type Pokemon will resist Fire, Flying, Normal, and Poison.
